As COVID-19 restrictions begin to lift in MN, concern lingers over variants
Capacity limits and mask requirements start lifting Friday across Minnesota. It's a sign we're inching closer to a pre-pandemic normal, at least to some degree, but we're not yet out of the woods with COVID-19.
Retired University of Minnesota climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley found that a third of days in March saw wind gusts over 35 mph, and nearly half the days in April did, too. So far, May has been somewhat quieter.
Charges expected Friday after standoff at St. Cloud bank
Five hostages were freed and a suspect is in custody after a standoff Thursday that lasted more than eight hours at a Wells Fargo branch in St. Cloud. The Stearns County Attorney says the suspect will be charged Friday with aggravated robbery, kidnapping and second-degree assault, and may also face federal charges.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, 57 percent of staff in skilled nursing homes statewide have their shots, and a somewhat smaller percentage — 48 percent — of workers in assisted living facilities are vaccinated.
