Art Hounds 'hunt' for artists in Rochester

Artists open gallery spaces for the public to explore in Rochester’s Hiding Artists Tour. This week’s Art Hounds also recommend exhibits by Barbara McIlrath and Stuart Loughridge at the Groveland Gallery in Minneapolis, and by Kelly Schamberger at the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery in Grand Marais.

Shipping disruptions slow Minnesota crop exports, increase food costs

International shipping disruptions are putting the squeeze on businesses that export Minnesota-grown ag products. The shipping backups also affect imports, and that means higher prices at the grocery store.

Abstract art created during Chauvin verdict goes up for auction

The starting bid for Minneapolis artist seangarrison’s “Walking on Air,” which he painted outside the Hennepin County Government Center, is $150,000. The sale will benefit Youth Link MN and the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery, as well as the Equal Justice Initiative in Alabama.

Poll: Few think war in Afghanistan was worth it; majority favors refugee resettlement

A new Minnesota Poll shows fewer than a third of voters think the 20-year long United States war in Afghanistan was worth it. Forty-five percent say they support leaving Afghanistan but didn't like the way Biden handled the withdrawal. Fifty-three percent say they would support Afghan refugees in their communities.

One month after arrival at Fort McCoy: Afghan refugees and concerning reports out of Wisconsin

Enbridge ordered to pay $3.3 million for an aquifer breach

The Minnesota DNR says Enbridge pierced a groundwater aquifer in Clearwater County during construction of the Line 3 oil pipeline, causing an estimated release of more than 24 million gallons of groundwater from the aquifer, posing a risk to rare wetlands.
