Reprieve from deep freeze this coming week
Frigid but calm weather conditions continue into the workweek, with high pressure dominating the region. A gradual warming trend is expected as temperatures rise toward the typical early January averages.
Clear and chilly Saturday night
A high-pressure system is bringing clear skies and calm conditions, but also bitterly cold wind chills. Cold weather advisories are in effect for the northern areas, where wind chills are expected to plummet to 20s and 30s below zero.
Chilly weekend ahead; wind chills below zero
Bitter wind chills early Saturday will contribute to a chilly afternoon, with temperatures staying 10-15 degrees below normal. A major storm system will pass to the south, keeping snow out of the forecast for now.
A cold first weekend of January on the way
Even colder air has settled into the region. It will keep temperatures in the teens to near zero for afternoon highs in the northwest. The weekend will also be cold.
