Frigid but calm weather conditions continue into the workweek, with high pressure dominating the region. A gradual warming trend is expected as temperatures rise toward the typical early January averages.

Single-digit lows are expected tonight in the metro area, with temperatures dropping into the teens below zero in northwestern Minnesota.

Wind chill temperatures for Monday morning will drop once again into the teens, and single digits below zero. 

Highs on Monday will rise into the teens across central and southern Minnesota, while northern areas will still experience single-digit temperatures.

Early next week, mostly sunny days are expected as high pressure remains in control of our weather pattern.

By Wednesday, 20s will return to the state as warmer southerly winds move in. Temperatures could reach the 30s on Thursday ahead of an approaching clipper system.

Moisture will be limited with the clipper system, and at best, we might see some light snow, though even that would be a stretch.
