Bright sun and a July-like air mass will challenge for the warmest day of the year so far in much of Minnesota. Your local bank thermometer or car thermometer may flash 86 degrees around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Drought busted; stunning Friday

Severe drought has been wiped out in Minnesota, falling from about 35% last week to 0% this week. Moderate drought coverage shrank from roughly 92% to 50% in this week's update.

Frost advisory, warming trend this week

Freeze warnings and frost advisories are flying into Tuesday morning for a big chunk of the Upper Midwest. Temperatures drop below freezing in the Red River Valley, and frost will nip as close to the Twin Cities as the outer western metro suburbs Tuesday morning.

Temperature shock, drought busting weekend rains

The forecast improves this week as spring temperatures return by Thursday and Friday. The early read show a decent Saturday, rain and storms Sunday and a breezy and cooler Memorial Day with increasing sunshine.
