Morning Edition: Music

Titled "The Call," it's the brainchild of English countertenor Ryland Angel, who has been working with Wilco guitarist Nels Cline and the University of Minnesota's choral studies program to create the music.
His new album is a collection of songs by and about African-American cowboys. One, called "Goodbye Old Paint," has been traced back to a former slave named Charley Willis who worked as a cowboy on the Texas panhandle.
Singer-songwriter Mikaela Davis has been playing the harp since elementary school, and she went to college with plans to become a symphony harpist. Along the way, the Rochester, New York native decided she wanted to play her own compositions with a small band.
The band's rendition of the Neil Diamond song was featured on "Labour of Love," their album of covers. For his part, Neil Diamond says the UB40 version is among his favorite covers of one his songs. When he performs "Red Red Wine" now, he uses UB40's reggae arrangement.
