Morning Edition: Music

The song was first recorded by actor Richard Harris in 1968. A few years later, producer Pete Bellotte had the idea to make a disco version of a hit song from the 60s. When he heard Harris' version of "MacArthur Park," he knew it would be perfect for Donna Summer's big voice.
Elvis Costello performs tonight at the Northrop Auditorium at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. His new album, "Look Now," includes a song written with the legendary songwriter Carole King. Another interesting collaboration has a local twist: Los Angeles-based R&B singer Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Williams's new record was produced by Justin Vernon and Polica's Ryan Olson. Williams plays tonight at the Turf Club in St. Paul.
"Bathtubs Over Broadway" is being screened tonight at the Trylon Cinema, and it examines the elaborate live musical numbers that companies once commissioned for their corporate conventions.
The band is comprised of husband and wife duo Michael and Tanya Trotter. Tanya Trotter has been singing for audiences all her life, but Michael Trotter was first encouraged to pursue a music career while in the Army.
It's the latest record based on the kid-friendly duo's outdoor adventures. They've also canoed down the Mississippi River, hiked along the Appalachian Trail, and gone horseback riding on the Continental Divide.
