With soda bans, NE Minn. hospitals are at leading edge of US trend
In the last few months, several hospitals in northeast Minnesota have stopped selling soda and other beverages that are sweetened with sugar. They are at the forefront of a growing national trend among health care facilities that are trying to combat the nation's obesity problem.
The Fargo Forestry Department says it will begin inspecting firewood at homes around the city next week in an effort to manage the spread of Dutch elm disease.
Red River peak expected after April 15
Experts with the U.S. Geological Survey and National Weather Service say peak flooding on the Red River in Fargo will likely occur after April 15.

Volunteers in Fargo, N.D., started filling sandbags Wednesday in preparation for flooding along the Red River expected later this month. The city will fill enough sandbags to be prepared for a record flood, but will need only about half the sandbags it used in 2009 because of permanent flood measures installed since then.
