Severe weather outbreak likely Saturday
A severe weather outbreak is likely Saturday afternoon and evening across Minnesota. A strong low pressure system over southern Canada sweeps a powerful cold front into a humid unstable air mass over Minnesota Saturday. Expect a squall line of severe thunderstorms to develop ahead of the advancing front.
Minnesota’s unusual August storm, Atlantic Hurricane Danny
A rare October-like storm system in August spins north over Lake Superior Wednesday. The system defies analog storms from the Twin Cities NWS for the month of August. In fact, the low pressure center may rival the lowest summertime pressure readings at MSP Airport as it passes overhead.
