Friday snow will slow afternoon commute; colder through the weekend
Accumulating snow begins in the Twin Cities metro area by late morning. Snow will continue in the metro area and much of the southern half of Minnesota, plus west-central Wisconsin, through Friday afternoon and then taper off Friday evening.

Snow moved into southwestern Minnesota early Friday morning, and it's expected to spread into the Twin Cities metro area by 10 or 11 a.m. and continue through the afternoon. Snow tapers off early in the evening, but roads will be slippery.
The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued its initial spring flood outlook for the Minnesota, Upper Mississippi, and western Wisconsin river basins, showing a higher than usual flood potential.
