It should be dry for most of the state for most of the day, but rain will push into western Minnesota late and spread east and statewide into Friday. The weekend continues to look dry and cooler.

The rain-swollen Blue Earth River continued to carve a larger channel around the Rapidan Dam southwest of Mankato on Wednesday, after claiming a home near the dam the previous night.
A Minnesota dam is still intact after floodwaters overcame parts of the structure and prompted officials to prepare for a potential collapse. Authorities on Tuesday initially said the Rapidan Dam faced an “imminent threat” of collapse, but later said an abutment had partially failed. The river has swelled after an onslaught of rain pummeled the Midwest.
Wednesday will be cooler with partly cloudy skies. The next round of possible showers and thunderstorms develops Thursday night into Friday but clears for the weekend.
A secondary cool front is sliding across the state overnight touching off a few spotty showers. It will drop temperatures into Wednesday with highs just in the 60s and 70s.
Authorities in Blue Earth County continue to monitor the imperiled Rapidan Dam on Tuesday after the rain-swollen Blue Earth River carved a new channel around the structure.
