
Meet Tom Crann
Tom Crann is the host of All Things Considered for MPR News.
For nearly two decades, afternoon listeners in Minnesota and the upper Midwest have been getting their news from Tom Crann, host of All Things Considered on MPR News, making him one of the most recognizable voices in Minnesota. As host, producer and interviewer for Minnesota Public Radio since 1995, he has interviewed a vast array of newsmakers from Minnesota and beyond including Buzz Aldrin, John McCain, Kate DiCamillo, Osmo Vänskä, Walter Mondale, Jimmy Carter, Jane Fonda and Jim Lehrer, to name a few.
Tom has been the election night anchor for MPR News since 2012, and he’s anchored live coverage of breaking news events, from the 35W Bridge collapse to the many extraordinary events of 2020, including the unrest in Minneapolis. He is also known for his weekly “Appetites” segments about Minnesota’s vibrant culinary scene.
His work on MPR News has been recognized with an Eric Severeid Award from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association, a regional Edward R. Murrow award, a National Headliner Award, and first place from the Public Media Journalists Association for breaking news coverage.
In addition to his work in news, Crann has spent over 20 years hosting and producing classical music and cultural programs at public radio stations around the U.S. and in Ireland. Tom received his bachelor’s degree in English from Providence College in Rhode Island.
