Thursday marks one year since the historic Lutsen Lodge along Minnesota’s North Shore was destroyed by fire.
The person at the center of the investigations by state agencies, insurance companies, reporters and private detectives is the owner, Bryce Campbell. While notoriously media-shy, Campbell spoke to journalist Joe Friedrichs, who was on the scene the day of the fire and has been digging into the case ever since.
Friedrichs joined Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer with his findings, including Campbell’s significant financial problems, unpaid bills and worry over payroll at the lodge and allegations against the owner that the fire was arson.
