In his first address to the United Nations General Assembly, President Trump vowed this morning to "always put America first."

"The United States will forever be a great friend to the world, and especially to its allies," Trump said. "But we can no longer be taken advantage of, or enter into a one-sided deal where the United States gets nothing in return."

MPR News host Kerri Miller spoke with Andrew Bacevich, professor emeritus of history and international relations at Boston University, about what to make of the president's speech. Bacevich's article, "Saving 'America First': What Responsible Nationalism Looks Like," was published in the latest issue of Foreign Affairs.
