This month also marks 30 years since the release of "Rhythm Nation 1814," one of several successful Jackson albums that were recorded and produced at Flyte Time Studios in Minneapolis.
In addition to touring with the album, the band marked the anniversary by having the album encoded into DNA and then loaded into a can of spray paint. That can was featured in an exhibition on artificial intelligence at an art museum in London.
The group’s name comes from the title of the Velvet Underground’s final album (featuring none of the band’s original members), which was widely panned at the time of its release.
Her performance is part of the Current’s “Music on-a-Stick” show. The lineup also includes gospel and soul singer Mavis Staples and Nashville singer-songwriter Savannah Conley
The concert is free, and a variety of food trucks will be on hand. Last month, Romantica lead singer Ben Kyle performed at a birthday bash for Ringo Starr in Los Angeles.
