A Hennepin County jury on Wednesday found Rep. John Thompson (DFL-St. Paul) guilty of a misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal process. A judge sentenced him to 6 months of probation and ordered him to pay a $200 fine.

The boy was seriously wounded in a shooting Friday in Minneapolis. Police spokesperson John Elder says it appears the shooting happened in the 2700 block of Thomas Avenue North, just after 11 a.m. Also, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency extended an air quality alert from Moorhead across the top third of the state to Lake Superior that runs through noon Saturday.
