Like many animal shelters around the country, Minneapolis Animal Care and Control is dealing with an influx of pet surrenders, due in part to COVID-era eviction protections expiring.
Annual convention unites Muslims from across Minnesota
Around 8,000 people attended this year’s convention, according to organizers. The schedule included lectures with 68 speakers on navigating life with faith, as well as a Quran recital competition and a Muslim singles social event.
Gamers settle in Twin Cities for Catan national championship this weekend
About 100 people will gather in the Twin Cities this weekend to trade wood, bricks, wheat, ore and sheep. Not for a trade conference, but the resource cards from the popular board game Catan. The U.S. National Championship will be played this weekend at the Mall of America. 
Air Force picks Twin Cities to base upgraded C-130 cargo planes
The C-130s are the primary airlift plane for the U.S. military. National Guard units like the Minneapolis-based 133rd Airlift Wing fly about half of the country's C-130 fleet. The Air Force is designating eight of the new craft to Guard units in four states.
