There's a lot of concern, but so far no major flooding problems or damage along the rising Minnesota River in southern Minnesota. The river is still mainly below flood stage, but ice jams have been a concern.
Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says she will ask Congress to intervene in the ongoing dispute over a new bridge across the St. Croix River near Stillwater.
The National Weather Service predicts Red River flood waters will crest this coming Saturday. They say the water will reach 38 feet which is about three feet lower than last year's all-time record flood.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is making
disaster aid available to farmers in 37 Minnesota counties, mostly
in the northern two-thirds of the state.
