Tense standoff at Dakota Access protest encampment
The prospect of a police raid on an encampment protesting the Dakota Access pipeline faded as night fell Wednesday, with law enforcement making no immediate move after protesters rejected their request to withdraw from private land.
A jury on Tuesday found 32-year-old Brandon Rossbach guilty of aiding an offender in the death of Rose Downwind, a mother of five and the granddaughter of American Indian Movement co-founder Dennis Banks.
