A bitterly cold but sunny day
Tonight is likely to be the coldest night of the rest of the winter. Lows Friday morning should be in the teens below zero statewide and possibly touch 20 below near Canada. The Twin Cities should bottom out close to 8 below.
Cold weather lingers
Cold high pressure will dominate our weather through Friday. Winds will be high enough to drop wind chill readings into the -25 to -35 degree range overnight into Thursday morning.
A glancing blow of snow
The Canadian air has settled in, so temperatures will remain on the decidedly chilly side through Friday.
Arctic chill returns
Arctic air will overspread Minnesota tonight and Wednesday, and the chilly air will linger into Friday. Temperatures should recover a bit on Saturday and Sunday.
A brief respite, then arctic cold returns
Lows tonight will range from 15 to 20 below in the north to zero to 10 above in the south. Wednesday's highs should stall around zero near Canada and about 15 near Iowa.
Arctic blast arrives Saturday night
Expect continued cold air and below normal temperatures as we ride out the last week of the meteorological winter. There is another brief moderation in store for Tuesday.
