Minnesota nonprofits at risk after Trump threatens foreign aid cuts

The website for the U.S. Agency for International Development is out of service Tuesday. And dozens of Minnesota agencies that provide aid abroad are scrambling and trying to figure out what’s next.

All this comes after President Trump's executive orders halting foreign aid — and his intent to end the U.S. agency that provides it and fold it into the state department.

What might this all mean for Minnesotans providing aid abroad, and people with families overseas in need of aid?

MPR News host Tom Crann spoke with Karen Fredrickson — a Minnesotan who has worked as a senior advisor at USAID.
