Twin Cities area school employee charged with possesing child sexual abuse images

A recess and traffic monitor in the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District has been charged on possession of child sexual abuse images

William Haslach, 30, worked at Cowern Elementary, Richardson Elementary and North High. Authorities say they have not found any indication that students at the schools were involved.

According to criminal charges filed in Ramsey County, Maplewood police got a tip from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension about a delivery of child sexual abuse images to an email and IP address connected to Haslach.

Police executed a search warrant at Haslach’s home Friday. They found multiple USB drives and devices containing child sex abuse images. The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office charged him with 10 felony counts.

School officials sent a notice of the arrest to families. They said Haslach is on administrative leave and is not allowed on school property.

Police say they are continuing the investigation to determine whether any students at Haslach’s workplaces were ever involved. School officials said they have not received complaints about Haslach since he started working in the district in 2021.

Authorities said anyone with information related to the investigation should contact the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
