Record-setting rains concluded the month of July, a recent, wet trend we’ve seen all year. According to meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley places like Thielman saw just a hair over 4 inches of rain in one night.
And since much of this rain occurred overnight, the rainfall totals carry into the start of August. As for temperatures, most of state stayed within relatively normal monthly temps. However, the far northern swath of the state saw 2 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit above normal, Seeley said.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Seeley about the thundering weather in their weekly weather chat.
