A bicyclist was struck and killed by a Blue Line train late Monday night in Minneapolis.
The incident happened near 35th Street along Hiawatha Avenue at about 9 p.m. KARE 11 reports the bicyclist was crossing the tracks from east to west when he was struck by the northbound train. Investigators believe the traffic signals at the crossing were working at the time.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident halted train service for several hours. Metro Transit said Blue Line service resumed shortly after 10 p.m.
The incident comes just days after a woman was struck and killed by a Green Line train in St. Paul. Authorities said she was crossing the tracks near the Dale Street train station when she was struck and killed by a westbound train at about 3 p.m. on Friday.
