A woman has died after being struck by a Green Line train in St. Paul Friday afternoon.
The victim was 21-year-old Hanue Salahdin Sukar, according to Metro Transit spokesperson Howie Padilla.
Padilla said preliminary information indicates the pedestrian walked into the path of a westbound train after an eastbound train had passed by near the Dale Street station.
"Situations like this are horrible because not only are they tragic and end the life of somebody, they're life-changing for that person's loved ones and our operators as well. They'll never forget it either," he said.Padilla says the warning signals were working properly, but that the agency still will review policies.
"We evaluate things after each incident and try and say, ‘Not only did everything work as it should have but is there something else that could be done?’" said Padilla.
Light rail service returned to normal after about an hour.
