A Minnesotan will be inducted Friday night into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame. Janet Carpenter, who competed as Janet Gerhauser, skated at the 1952 Olympics in Olso. She is the only woman in U.S. figure skating history to have been an Olympic competitor, team leader, and judge.

This season is a rebuilding year for the Minnesota Timberwolves. That's a nice way of saying the team isn't very good, but attendance and fan enthusiasm aren't as low as some might think.
The U.S. Figure Skating Championships begin on Sunday at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center. The week-long competition gives a group of young Minnesota skaters a chance to shine on their own home turf -- here in the state of hockey.
Minneapolis' top priority during the upcoming legislative session will be some relief in the form of state aid for the Target Center. Once new, the facility isn't attracting high-profile acts, and it's running in the red.
