Minneapolis last hosted the Super Bowl in 1992. Star Tribune digital sports editor Howard Sinker covered that game - Super Bowl XXVI - and joined MPR's Cathy Wurzer for a chat about Minnesota's history with the Super Bowl.
Adding to the Vikings disappointment, Minnesota's Timberwolves and Wild both lost to elite teams Thursday night. Even the Gopher men's basketball has hit the skids after being considered one of the stronger teams in the Big Ten.
Why so glum? The Lynx captured their fourth WNBA championship in seven years. The Twins made the playoffs after finishing last a season ago. The Timberwolves are on track to be a playoff team for the first time in many years. The Vikings are in first place. And the University of Minnesota men's basketball team is nationally-ranked.
