A 24-year-old man is in custody after allegedly opening fire on a Minneapolis Park Police officer in an incident that started late Tuesday night at Lake Harriet. The officer returned fire. No one was injured.

Fire burns former Lake Street Kmart building in Minneapolis
Fire crews responded to the call at about 5 a.m. and found flames and thick smoke coming from the vacant Kmart department store at Lake and Nicollet, just west of Interstate 35W. The building was scheduled for demolition next March.
