Former Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak left the hospital today, three days after he had a heart attack while cross country skiing. Since entering the hospital Saturday, doctors at Abbott Northwestern Hospital performed two angioplasty procedures and inserted six stents. Minneapolis officials are pushing forward their bicycling safety campaign by providing police officers with small cards they can hand out detailing laws around bicycling. The unique thing about the initiative is that it asks equal responsibility from both drivers and bicyclists for creating safe streets.
Corporations, law firms and other interest groups are bankrolling today’s inaugural celebration for St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman. In all, they contributed nearly $25,000 to the mayor’s inauguration fund. While businesses aren’t allowed to give money to candidates’ campaigns in Minnesota, there’s nothing stopping them from supporting inaugurals.
