Veterans Day today will be filled with remembrances of bravery in battle and perseverance at home. Stories like that of Red Cross volunteer, Marian Krinke, don't often get told. On a recent day, though, she led a tour from her armchair through a collection of photographs from WW II and stories that need to be heard before they disappear.

Two-term Minneapolis City Council member Diane Hofstede says voters favored fresh candidates over experience in Tuesday’s election. Hofstede was defeated by first-time candidate Jacob Frey, 32. “There was a sense of anti-incumbency,” Hofstede said. “I really felt that there was a strong focus on youth versus abilities. And that seemed to be a strong point in the information that was conveyed during the campaign.”
