Water is the embodiment of Minnesota — but this natural resource is being stressed. Just this month, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency added 300 more bodies of water to its impaired list, meaning they don’t meet clean water standards.

The Minnesota Humanities Center is highlighting the preciousness of our lakes and rivers with its “We Are Water Minnesota” traveling exhibit. The interactive display will show up cities like St. Paul, Winona, Fergus Falls and Lake City in 2022. 

“We Are Water Minnesota” gives folks the chance to explore what water means in the state and how we can all do a better job of protecting it. The exhibit also collects audio stories from Minnesotans who share what water means to them.

Host Cathy Wurzer talked to the CEO of the Minnesota Humanities Center, Kevin Lindsey, about how the exhibit is being received.
