The Twin Cities have one of the largest gaps in the country when it comes to homeownership rates between Black and white residents. 

About 25 percent of Black families in the metro own their homes compared to 76 percent of white families, according to 

 of families of color are considered to be “cost-burdened” by the state, meaning that many families have to skimp on other necessities, like groceries or medicine, in order to pay for their housing.
