Would you ever text with a therapist? What about following along with a meditation on an app? Lots of people are struggling with mental health right now, but getting access to in-person therapy is more difficult during the pandemic. Mental health technology, like phone apps, might be able to help bridge the gap.

MPR News host Angela Davis is joined by a psychologist and two people in the mental health tech field to talk about how the intersection of mental health and digital tools can help people and support traditional treatment.

Guests:

  • Julie Erickson is a psychologist and associate clinical director of integrated behavioral health at Children’s Minnesota. In her work with patients she uses apps like Headspace and Mindshift.

  • Melissa Kjolsing is the CEO of Recovree, an app that supports people recovering from substance use disorder.

  • Grady Hannah is the CEO of NightWare, a smart watch app that helps people with PTSD.
