The models tell us social distancing is a necessary evil. Isolation limits the spread of the novel coronavirus and slows the most serious cases of COVID-19.

But humans are social creatures. How do we cope with the loss of significant gatherings, like weekly faith services, extended family dinners — not to mention the bigger touchstones of burying a loved one, or celebrating new life?
