Controversial Goodhue wind farm environmental impact plan rejected
The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission rejected a developer's plan to protect eagles and other wildlife that might be harmed by a controversial wind farm project in the southeastern region of the state.
New research from the U.S. Geological Survey shows White Bear Lake water levels are falling because communities north of the lake are pumping too much water from an aquifer connected to the big lake.
Quarry plan faces more hurdles
A disputed plan to quarry granite along the Minnesota River in the western part of the state has moved a step forward. But it may also face a significant new hurdle. The Big Stone County Planning Commission recommends the county require Strata Corporation to address environmental issues. Opponents say the quarry would cause irreversible damage to a scenic leg of the Upper Minnesota River.
