Airport shooting suspect makes initial court appearance
The Iraq war veteran held in the fatal shooting of five people inside Fort Lauderdale's airport answered questions in a clear voice Monday as he was appointed public defenders and told he could face the death penalty.
Police say a man and woman were shot in the city's downtown area shortly before 2:30 a.m. The male victim died at the scene. The female victim was taken to the hospital. She's expected to recover.
