Man gets 37 1/2 years for killing girl caught in Minneapolis gunfire
Trinity Ottoson-Smith, 9, was at a friend’s birthday party in May 2021 when prosecutors said Dpree Shareef Robinson fired a gun from the alley at three people on the house’s back porch, hitting and killing the girl. Robinson was sentenced Tuesday.
Minneapolis police chief says he was unaware of new hire's past excessive force allegations
Chief Brian O'Hara said he did not know a new officer allegedly used excessive force in a previous job before signing off on his hiring. Tyler Timberlake, who’s white, used a stun gun on Lamonta Gladney, who’s Black, and pressed his knees into his neck and back in 2020 in Fairfax County, Va.
Investigators say it appears that a man found dead in a freezer in Biwabik last month was hiding from police. The body of 34-year-old Brandon Lee Buschman of Babbitt, Minn., was found in a chest freezer in the basement of an unoccupied home in Biwabik on June 26.
MPD chief pushes back against claims he knew of video showing incident
The video shows an incident in 2020 where officer Tyler Timberlake, who worked for the Fairfax County Police Department in Virginia, used a taser and then pressed his knees into the back and neck of a Black man, La Monta Gladney. The incident happened 11 days after George Floyd's murder.
St. Paul Police said Friday they located the remains of a woman who went missing two years ago. Her death has been linked to a man who was charged after another woman’s dismembered body was found in a different storage unit in another Minneapolis suburb.
BCA report: Black people subjects of more than half of no-knock search warrants last year
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension found that Black people, mostly males, accounted for half of the subjects of no-knock warrant applications or the incidents that led to the applications.
