The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has identified the 

 earlier this month and the officers who fired.

Officers shot and injured 23-year-old Damon Andreas Constans, Jr. while responding to a domestic call on June 11.

The BCA investigated the incident. On Wednesday, the agency identified five officers who were involved. Brooklyn Center police officers Austin Burt and Tarik Kekic fired their guns; both are on critical incident leave.

Constans remains hospitalized in stable condition. 

According to the BCA, a woman called 911 from a residence on the 3200 block of 63rd Avenue North in Brooklyn Center and requested help getting a man out of her house. The BCA said Constans also called 911 and said his mother was in the house armed with a knife. 

Officers arrived and first arrested Constans’s mother on suspicion of assault with a dangerous weapon. 

The BCA says Constans then armed himself with a chainsaw. 

Officers reportedly attempted to negotiate with Constans, and fired less-lethal ammunition and PepperBall rounds.

Constans then allegedly left the house with the chainsaw running and moved towards officers. Two of them then fired their guns, striking him. Constans was taken to the hospital. 

BCA personnel found a chainsaw and spent shell casings at the scene. Personnel are also reviewing body camera footage.

The BCA identified three more officers who used force. Brooklyn Park Police Sergeant Juel Lund and Brooklyn Center police officer Derek Wodnick fired less-lethal weapons; Wodnick is on critical incident leave. Crystal police officer Isaiah Gorman fired PepperBall rounds.

The BCA says it’s continuing the investigation and will report the results to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office once it is complete.
