Hot weather has dominated the first week of May and that will likely continue. But that heat has been above normal.

“The temperatures getting so warm — each week that goes by that we don't see rain — gets us drier and drier,” climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley said.

Warm weather combined with low precipitation makes Seeley “fearful,” he said, because temperatures next week are going to average between 10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit above normal.

“The dryness really gets magnified,” he said.
