Authorities in Hastings are investigating after a man was found dead in a roadside ditch on Sunday morning. 

Hastings police responded to the 1300 block of Ravenna Trail on the city’s east side just before 10 a.m., after a 911 caller reported finding a man dead in a ditch just east of the Vermillion River bridge. 

The man’s identity has not been confirmed. But according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Hastings police, authorities believe the incident is connected to a missing person case and suspicious fire reported in neighboring Denmark Township early Saturday morning. 

Authorities are asking that anyone who saw a vehicle stopped on Ravenna Trail between 2 a.m. Saturday and 9:50 a.m. Sunday contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office or Hastings police. 

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s identity and cause of death.
