Team USA, Waseca native win gold in sitting volleyball match vs. China in Paralympics

Team USA beat China in the women’s gold medal match at the 2024 Paris Paralympics on Saturday, winning 3-1.

Waseca native Alexis Shiflett-Patterson, a member of the U.S. women’s sitting volleyball team, returned for her third Paralympic Games. Her previous two trips were also successful, with the U.S. team securing gold medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

The Paralympics closing ceremony is 2 p.m. CDT Sunday.
