Almost every day of the first week of June had rain falling somewhere in the state. According to meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley, a number of climate stations reported over 4 inches of rainfall or more.

Thunderstorms across the state brought 10 record-setting daily rainfalls on Monday. Seeley mentioned in May that intense rainfall had already squashed a lot of drought around the state, but now he says it’s practically gone. Only 2 percent of the Minnesota landscape is drier than normal.

MPR News host Phil Picardi spoke with Seeley about the end of drought and more in his weekly weather chat.
