A lack of snow on the ground for much of Minnesota has been just one indication of warming temperatures during the winter months. Minnesotans aren’t just seeing low precipitation, they’re feeling it, too.

According to retired climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley, temperatures are ranging up to 12 degrees above normal. In fact, about 15 Minnesota cities across the state recorded record breaking temperatures for this time of year. That includes Canby in southwest Minnesota, which saw a day that reached 69 degrees recently, tying a statewide record high temperature for the date.

MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Seeley about the upward trends and much more in their weekly weather chat.
