Today in Fargo-Moorhead: NDSU scholarship program, flea market Saturday

Sixty degrees, is that you? Well, almost. High temperatures increase steadily Friday through Tuesday, reaching a balmy 59 degrees by next week. No forecasted snow or inclement weather to speak of.

North Dakota State University is the latest in the Fargo-Moorhead area to offer a scholarship program for lower-income students. From the Fargo Forum: “For the 2024-25 academic year, Pell-eligible North Dakota and Minnesota students who are in their first or second year at NDSU, and whose family income level is $80,000 or less, will have base tuition and student fees covered.”

Unlike the Concordia College program, NDSU students would need to demonstrate “great financial need” through a Pell grant.

New research has found several species of the buffalofish, which are native to Minnesota, can live to be well over 100 years old. That’s helped spark new appreciation for the fish, and efforts to give it greater protection.

We’ve combed through Minnesota’s state flag submissions and picked our favorites from the most … interesting to best use of lasers.

Punk rock karaoke makes an appearance Friday night at the Elks. The Fargo-Moorhead Vintage Flea Market is Saturday, 12 to 5 p.m. And NDSU plays Illinois Saturday.
