Drought remained an issue as we entered the second week of September, but rain has started to trickle in. Although the rain was welcome, it remained mostly spotty across the state with north and northeastern Minnesota seeing the most.
A number of stations in those areas reported over one inch of rainfall while a freakish yet small thunderstorm in Duluth rained up to about three inches in a short period of time. Unfortunately the rainy week did not alleviate spread of drought with all forms, from moderate to extreme, spreading across the state.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with retired meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley about the rainy weather in their weekly weather chat.
