St. Paul police say a 14-year-old is in custody after a 12-year-old boy was found fatally shot early Saturday morning.
Family members and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter identified the boy who died as Markee Jones.
In a statement, police say it happened in the city's North End neighborhood, in the 200 block of Stinson Street.
Officers called to the scene at 5 a.m. found the child suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He later died at Regions Hospital.
Later on Saturday, police said in a tweet that a teen was placed in Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center and suspected of manslaughter in the death of the younger boy. Police also said no updates beyond that were available.
