While Minneapolis debates what policing might look like there, this week the St. Paul City Council heard that city’s police chief make a case to hire more officers.
Chief Todd Axtell urged the council’s budget committee to add $3 million to what Mayor Melvin Carter has already proposed for the police force. The chief’s plea came just days after his officers responded to four homicides in 36 hours.
