Here, we bring you a radio play about the contentious relationship between Minnesota's Hubert H. Humphrey and the president he served under, Lyndon B. Johnson. It's a co-production of MPR News and the History Theatre and features a short play written by Jeffrey Hatcher called “All the Way with LBJ.”
The play imagines, with historical context, the conversation that took place during Humphrey’s visit to the LBJ ranch just prior to the Democratic National Convention in August 1968.
Former MPR reporter Karl Gehrke moderates a post-play discussion with former Vice President Walter Mondale, former Minnesota Attorney General Hubert “Skip” Humphrey and Minnesota historian Hy Berman.
This was produced in 2005 by Ron Peluso, Sue Scott, Karl Gehrke and Sara Meyer.
The History Theatre is located in downtown St. Paul.
