An MPR listener wanted to know whether Feb. 14 set any records for cold in Minnesota.
According to retired University of Minnesota climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley, the Twin Cities just missed the record (negative 5 degrees Fahrenheit on Feb. 14, 1920), but places from Rochester to International Falls did see their coldest Valentine’s Day in history this year.
Seeley talked with MPR News host Cathy Wurzer about recent frigid temps, and other weather topics.
