The New England Journal of Medicine published a scathing editorial about the United States’ response to the pandemic. It said the government “has failed at almost every step” and that leaders are “dangerously incompetent” and shouldn’t be allowed to keep their jobs.
“I’ve never read anything quite like this in a medical journal,” said Dr. Jon Hallberg, medical director of the University of Minnesota Physicians Mill City Clinic.
“Here I am a primary care doctor reading this and — I’m trying to find the right words, even — I feel so bad about how we have handled this pandemic,” he said. “And it causes a great deal of introspection in me. How have I and how has my system handled this, and what can we do better?”
Hallberg discussed the editorial and new information on superspreader events and people. Click play on the audio player above to hear it.
